The SPCA needs YOU!

SPCA – HAVE A HEART FOR THE FURRY ONES!

It is not an easy task – often gruesome, ungrateful and heart-rending. Ellie Potgieter and Denise Botes from the Letaba SPCA in Tzaneen serve the animals in an area much larger than two ladies can actually handle, covering Tzaneen, Modjadjiskloof, Soekmekaar, Haenertsburg, Letsitele, Mooketsi, Kgapane, Lenyenye, Nkowankowa, Harmonie (up to the border of Gravelotte) and Bolobedu (up to the border of Giyani).

Hit 2018 running!

Big 5 Trail Week

29 DEC 2017 - 3 JAN 2018

This event will ensure that you exit the old year without losing speed and hit the new year running! The biennial BIG 5 Trail Week is centred on the picturesque town of Haenertsberg in the Limpopo province of South Africa. From here participants travel to different locations for the day's activity. For most days there are long and short distances.

1 January 2018 is a day of rest and recovery, before the last two days of the Big 5 are tackled!

Discover and enjoy Tzaneen and surroundings during this festive/ holiday season

School holidays in the Tzaneen area - ways to spoil your little ones

The last month of the year is here…parents might wonder how they are going to entertain their kids this festive season? Fortunately, this area has ample great activities and pastimes to keep the little folk stimulated and busy!

Activities which offer options for the whole family, are ideal. Here are a few ideas to consider if you've already exhausted all your options.

Eat for a Treat in Stellenbosch

If you are lucky enough to be in the valley of the vineyards over December there will be a time when you will want to spoil yourself or your loved ones by dining out for a change. As it is a student town and a popular, picturesque tourist destination, there is no shortage of restaurants, coffee houses, pubs and clubs. They have planned special Christmas dinners for their visitors and below you will see how hard it will be to make a choice.

Succulent Strawberries to tantalize tourists

Strawberry Season in Stellenbosch

There is something so delicious, beautiful and romantic about the strawberry. Could it be that it is associated with Wimbledon and the strawberries-and-cream tradition? Maybe the shape of it - like a red heart? Perhaps even the strawberry scene with Julia Roberts and Richard Gere in "Pretty Woman". Or how well it goes with chocolate or champagne!

Leydsdorp – the sleepy hollow comes alive

In the close proximity of Gravelotte, just off the R71, is the turn-off to Leydsdorp. (The R71 is a provincial route in South Africa that connects Polokwane with the Kruger National Park via Tzaneen and Phalaborwa.)

Although the sign board has always been there and probably every person who is rushing to get to the Kruger National Park sees it and thinks of turning in there at some point in the future, many don't. Leydsdorp, however, is steeped in rich history.

A ‘lekker’ festive season at Leydsdorp Hotel

Leydsdorp Kapiri Hills is home to some of the best kept secrets in the world. The sleepy little town has started awakening and is going through a process of becoming a provincial heritage site.

Time has seemingly stood still in this former mining town, rich in history of Kruger Gold, tales of wildlife and handed-down fables. Leydsdorp is choosing the festive season 2017 to come alive and show what it's got – after years of lying dormant.

Hope your fishes all come true!

FISHING SPOTS – Ebenezer Dam, Magoebaskloof Dam, Stanford Lake, Lakeside or Tzaneen Dam.

In a country where water shortages in several parts are a sad and cruel reality, Tzaneen is extremely blessed with not one, but three large bodies of water – and then some. In general, it means enough drinking water, water for crops, gardens and recreation.
