Helping Hands In Hermanus

Dewcare is something that should be in every town. Hermanus has it – a non-medical care service. This is a service that helps those in need of assistance with the simple activities of daily living to enable them to continue living life from the comfort of their own home. A non-medical care service does not undertake any procedures of a medical nature.

PHS Greets a Legend After 45 Years

Not only was Ms Mariana Badenhorst a teacher at Pietersburg High School for 45 years, but also a pupil at the very same school for her entire secondary phase school career. She entered the big school gates as a wide-eyed gr 8 learner (then known as standard 6, of course) in 1963. She has been living in Polokwane since birth and was in Ivypark Primary School. In 1967, she matriculated at PHS.

Amazing Race - Soweto Way!

Many people watch The Amazing Race on TV, following the teams' progress with bated breath, picking their favourites and routing for them. Here it is a team effort where two people, whether a couple, father and son, brothers, sisters, colleagues etc have to outsmart, outrun and outdo the other teams to get to the daily finish line first – or at least, not drop out.

Cycle Soweto – and other fun things to do!

Spend a half day rolling through the streets of Soweto on a bike tour that puts travellers in touch with local customs, traditions, culture and people. The different tours visit basically the same places, all depart from the Hector Pieterson Museum at 9:00 or 11:00, and ends there again four hours later. Depending on the activities and stops, the cycle tours are R400 or R500 per person.

The Cape Whale Coast

Unaware of the countless pairs of eyes combing the water surface, the whale just does what he does and breeches….to a sudden and startling sound of applause, whoops and whistles. The crowds on the shore, or maybe fortunate enough in a boat close to this giant of the big blue, have been waiting for this magical moment: a whale breaking the surface of the water and for a few surreal seconds, allowing the gawking humans a chance to see its actual size, its beauty, its uncommon closeness…

Why drive when you can fly? (or glide/abseil/surf etc)

Fly? I don’t even drive, some might say. Yet, there are some who have always dreamt of flying – and just decided that it was an out-of-reach goal. Maybe not.

Stellenbosch has a Flying Club amongst the mountains and vineyards of the Cape Winelands. This traditional flying club was established in 1973 with the core focus of providing a home for the recreational and aspirant aviator, and in general promote aviation.

Hop on, hop off for wine-tasting in Franschoek

Don't drink and drive, they say, with knitted brow and a growl. In total agreement, but here, in Franschoek, Western Cape you are presented with the ideal opportunity to drink…and be driven!

The Wine Tram hop-on hop-off tour is one of the best ways to experience the picturesque vineyards, breath-taking scenery, warm hospitality, world-class cuisine, fine wines and the 300-year history of this fruitful valley.
