How Hoedspruit Came To Be

A small town with an incredibly interesting history: that is Hoedspruit. Once upon a time…is almost how it reads. Let’s read on:

The very first official land owner of the farm Hoedspruit was Dawid Johannes Joubert.    He arrived in the lowveld in 1844 and settled in the area between the Blyde River and what is now known as the Zandspruit River.

This is a tough question to answer as Nelspruit has so many and varied restaurants, pubs, coffee shops etc. The capital of Mpumalanga has an increasingly multi-ethnic society which results in the establishment of eateries from nearly every corner of the world.

A few popular haunts are discussed below, but take note that this is just the tip of the iceberg. There are many more delightful spots with delicious temptations for the taste buds.

Catering Schools in Nelspruit

A recent television advertisement had as its logo: ‘They taste so good ‘coz they eat so good!’ Quite clearly grammatically incorrect etc but the message stays with you! The same could be said about the culinary quality in the Nelspruit/Mbombela region.

There are many excellent places to eat out in and around Nelspruit in Mpumalanga. Those who enjoy eating out and like to have many options, are going to feel it in their pockets – if they are tempted to try them all. The reason for this variety of expertise could be owing to the chef training colleges in this region.

It was first declared a monument in 1977.
