The saying goes that all roads lead to Rome. Well, not all roads lead to The Hell, but The Donkey Trail does, and it is slow-going. On this two-day, three-night hike over the Swartberg Mountains to Die Hel, hikers enjoy the help of donkeys as travel assistants on the first stretch.

Really into reptiles? A visit to Perry’s Bridge Reptile Park in Hazyview will be worth your while, then. Hazyview is at a moderate speed (100km/h) only about 35 minutes’ drive from Mbombela. It is also a short drive from the Kruger National Park (roughly 15km from the Numbi and Phabeni gates).
Mbombela – Gateway to abundance

Is it any wonder that the town, Nelspruit (the original name) has earned Mbombela its city status? Over the past few years it has expanded noticeably, not only in size but also in significance. It was one of the selected cities to build a sports stadium to host some exciting matches during the FIFA Soccer World Cup tournament facilitated by South Africa in 2010.
Mookgophong, also known by its former name, Naboomspruit, was established in 1910 when tin was discovered here. Later, platinum was also discovered in the vicinity.
Naboomspruit was originally named for the profusion of euphorbia trees (known in Afrikaans as ‘naboom’) growing on the banks of a nearby stream ‘(spruit’, in Afrikaans). The town was officially renamed Mookgophong in 2006.
