Cheerio Gardens

On route to Tzaneen, in the heart of the Magoebaskloof mountain area you will find the famous Cheerio Gardens, where hundreds of different Japanese flowering cherry trees come into spectacular bloom during late September / early October.
 
What makes this beautiful site even more spectacular, is the fact that most other gardens in the vicinity are also then ablaze with the vibrant colours of azaleas, crab apples and other spring-flowering shrubs and trees.

Champion Trees are significant because of their remarkable size, age, or aesthetic, cultural, historic and tourism value.

Tzaneen Dam – Top spot for Carp fishing

Looking for the perfect Carp fishing spot? - What better place to cast your lines into, than the wild waters of the Tzaneen Dam, situated in the heart of the prolific sub- tropical region in South Africa, Tzaneen.
 
The dam was built in 1976 and was originally created to supply surrounding farmers with irrigation water. The Tzaneen dam has a capacity of 157, 291, 000 cubic meters of water and covers a surface area of 1, 163.6 hectares. The dam receives its water from both the Groot Letaba and Ramadiepa rivers.
