'LEKKER' LOCAL POP&ROCK AT TASTE OF TZANEEN
Saturday night, 4 November, at Taste of Tzaneen Fest, is going to be local and loud. If your feet start tapping with the ambition to dance, no-one will blame you. Framus Quotes is the performance by three local musos: Jansen van der Walt (guitar and vocals), Mario Santa Rita (bass and vocals) and Werner Bredenhahnn (a wizard on any set of drums).
It was equally well-honed musician, Sarel Snyman, who brought a group together in 2009 under name of Lumbus Frater – meaning Band of Brothers. The group played together until 2014, when work pressure and obligations made it difficult for Sarel to continue.
Then there were three…and Framus came to light and life. Over the past three years, Framus has become increasingly popular and have a full performance programme to keep up, although all three have their day jobs and families, which each demands its cut of their time and devotion.
Framus has performed far outside the borders of the greater Tzaneen area, but enjoy making music locally at corporate functions, weddings, arts festivals, markets etc. They have even been an opening act for a Mango Groove concert – which makes them 'special stars!' Their most recent performance was last weekend after Juanita du Plessis had entertained the audience at Ben Vorster High School's spring market. Other highlights this year were the performances at the Blueberry Festival (Blueberry Heights, near Haenertsburg) and the Haenertsburg Food and Wine Festival
The jazz repertoire is authentic and instrumental, as they play music of, amongst other, Stevie Wonder, Louis Armstrong, Eric Clapton, Tom Waits, BB King, Bill Withers, Simon and Garfunkel etc.
In the less acoustic and more electronic performance, they give their own unique flavour to favourites hits through the years of The Beatles, Santana, George Michael, Bob Marley, Queen, The Police, Status Quo, Fleetwood Mac etcetera.
If you haven't had the privilege of attending a Framus performance, you have the opportunity to. The time and date are Saturday, 4 November at 19:00 and the venue is the Limpopo hall at Fairview Hotel. Before the concert, you can warm up for the performance by tasting some locally distilled gin just outside the venue. Tickets for the show can be bought at the door on the day.
* Besides Framus, there are many more reasons to visit Taste of Tzaneen Fest. Enough to eat and drink throughout the day, non-stop music in different spots, a fun run, doggie walk and competition, fun for the kids and delightful stalls to view or purchase from.
* Furthermore, a ladies' tea, drum majorettes, a horse show etc. Watch this space for all the details and make sure to keep the dates 3-5 November free – or at least a few hours a day. Be prepared to be entertained!
* Any enquiries can be forwarded to bobbi@iinfo.co.za or call 082 331 5476. See you there!
