The dam was built in 1976 and was originally created to supply surrounding farmers with irrigation water. The Tzaneen dam has a capacity of 157 ,291 ,000 cubic meters of water and a surface area of 1 ,163.6 hectares. The dam receives its water from both the Groot Letaba and Ramadiepa rivers.
 
The dam is situated about 8km outside of Tzaneen in the Limpopo province and completely surrounded with the beautiful scenery of mother nature. Any fisherman’s dream for the perfect relaxing weekend getaway.
